vertical door operation

Am looking to show the door tracks for an overhead door to run vertical rather than horizontal. Is this something that is blatantly obvious that I am missing?

David:

I don't see an option for this (D1 Garage 4 11). Based on your photos, you could make these with TrussMaker and a Beam at the top, saved as a single library part; but this would not be part of the door so would need to be placed separately.

Modeling something will be easy enough. Was just wondering if I was missing something in the library. Odd that there isn't something as popular as these are here in the US land of big boxes. Thanks for the replies.

Dave,

I don't believe you're missing a part, GS has not developed proper OH doors.

While I've just loaded AC16, previous versions of AC, v12 thru v14 did not have a properly configured OH doors. These doors actually fit within the door opening, not covering the opening as standard for OH lift or roll-up doors.

In v15, GS introduced a track system that was what one would see in a standard residential garage door and still sat inside the wall opening. For commercial applications this simply was not functional. Your photos of overhead doors have hi-lift tracks which are quite common in my work but I've not been able to find or configure the right parametric settings for it. Again, I don't believe GS has developed those types of tracks...

Regarding Jared's comment, to model it... that is doable but IMHO the overhead doors within AC should include parametric door tools that replicate real-world situations... Maybe it's in v16 and I'll soon find out.
