i'm not saying students should get the new version before paying customers, but why do we have to wait for over a month? all they have to do is change the link for the download on the website, nobody has to ship anything.
AFWIW, Revit 2010 was available for student download within a week of its release.
Students such as myself are the people who will be entering the work force, and often have more experience with a diversity of 3d BIM programs, including ArchiCAD, revit, rhinoe, 3ds max, maya, etc, than many of the older more experienced architects in the firms we work. many small firms look to the young talent for advice about what programs to use and purchase. so there is some value to providing decent customer service to students.

If you know somebody who has the professional version you can use the DVD to install Educational and your current (or upgraded) serial number will work with it.
If not you could try if there is an upgrade here:
Or if you can download the trial version and install it as Edu.

Bad news: major improvements to collaboration no earthly good to the overwhelming majority of students, none of your existing plug-ins will work, no compatible ones are available through the shiny new education portal, and the Artlantis student license is also no longer available.
Not even annoyed, just really frustrated.

When I was testing MyArchiCAD.com for GS not long ago, Artlantis was definitely available. Also, many Add-Ons such as MEP Modeler, ECODesigner, CADImage Tools, Objective.
Can you elaborate on this?
