Another SSA Price Increase!

I've been off the boards for a bit, so I'm not sure this has been discussed previously, but...

There is another SSA price increase! For anyone doing the math, in 2022, 2023 and now 2024, in the span of 24 months, that is a 25% price increase.

Why Graphisoft?

I am still crashing on my MacTel machine. Even on the Apple Silicon version I have to restart every now and then when strange anomalies arise, only in ArchiCAD, and one that tech support says they can't solve.

How can there be justification for raising the price AGAIN when you've just put out a perpetually buggy version of ArchiCAD? Maybe the buggiest one to date. We Mac users to wait months after release for solutions to the crashing. This is seriously bordering on a breach of contract or lack of good faith on GS's part. We paid for software that we had a reasonable expectation of stability for, but to date, there seems to not be a crash proof version... and then you raise the price.

Graphisoft ( @Marton Kiss   @Akos Pfemeter) we need a legitimate explanation and most likely a repeal of this price increase. Again, this is the third price increase totaling around 25% in the past 24 months.

My suspicion is that this is a tactic by GS to force perpetual license holders (their most loyal of customers) onto their subscription model.

Hello AC users!
I have a big dilemma with the licensing change. That's why I'm taking the liberty of a small poll. How will you continue with AC?
1. I'm staying on AC28 or older.
2. After the SSA ends, I'll stay on AC29 AC30(?).
3. I'm switching to a Studio subscription as soon as possible.
4. I'm switching to a Collaborate subscription as soon as possible.
5. I'm switching to another program.
6. I'm quitting.

Thank you all for your opinions. Radim

Since they released the roadmap for Archicad, I’ve decided not to invest any more in this software. I will stick with AC27 as long as I can and as long as it remains productive.

Even more so, considering the improvements in AC28, which I'm still trying to figure out how they will benefit me.

Hi Radim,

good poll, I think I'll be staying on AC 27/28, the price increases are horrendous, the roadmap is complex and unclear, most of the 'benefits' are points i don't use or need (I've been on AC since 4.5).

Plus, as i progress in years, I'm looking at reducing my work hours over the next 5-10 years, whilst Graphisoft are looking to substantinally increase my costs - not sure how that works.

I would have thought that, with the user base here in Australia being much smaller than the Revit / Autocad userbase, would a smart marketing technique not be to offer a comparible piece of software at a reduced / lesser price to increase the user base and penetration in the marketplace?

Apparently not - instead, lets be more expensive than the bigger competition and in the process, alienate the existing user base.

Wow - HNY crew, lets hope 2025 is an excellent year.

I really do think we are witnessing the beginning of the end for AC. GS has just forced a huge chunk of their users to make a decision around their AC use and has overestimated AC's importance in their business models. They will find that large numbers of users will just sit on their perpetual licenses or jump ship to Revit. GS's revenue stream will take a big hit so I'm not sure it will survive without $$ investment from Nemetschek. Can't see them being to happy with that. GS should have left the current AC behind and spent the last 5 years developing a modern BIM ecosystem that they could sell as a big step up from AC. I would have been far more interested in paying a subscription for that. I personally will be sticking with the last perpetual version for the foreseeable future. Hopefully something new and exciting will come along before I retire.......

Always wants more!

I think GS must have every kind of studies that tell them they will earn more money with the new price scheme. And maybe they are right on pursuing the corporate bussiness. But I think is the small offices that are more prone to jump ship or just stay on their last version as you say.

Are they going to get enough big fishes to compensate the loose of the smaller ones? Are big companies really leaving Revit for GS, or the higher prices will make it possible to stay alive just with the existing ones?

The only thing I know is that we are no longer the main type of client to Graphisoft, so they are no longer the main software solution for our office.

And I will invest my SSA fees in Autodesk (better performance on the stock market). And NVIDIA.
