I've been off the boards for a bit, so I'm not sure this has been discussed previously, but...
There is another SSA price increase! For anyone doing the math, in 2022, 2023 and now 2024, in the span of 24 months, that is a 25% price increase.
Why Graphisoft?
I am still crashing on my MacTel machine. Even on the Apple Silicon version I have to restart every now and then when strange anomalies arise, only in ArchiCAD, and one that tech support says they can't solve.
How can there be justification for raising the price AGAIN when you've just put out a perpetually buggy version of ArchiCAD? Maybe the buggiest one to date. We Mac users to wait months after release for solutions to the crashing. This is seriously bordering on a breach of contract or lack of good faith on GS's part. We paid for software that we had a reasonable expectation of stability for, but to date, there seems to not be a crash proof version... and then you raise the price.
Graphisoft ( @Marton Kiss @Akos Pfemeter) we need a legitimate explanation and most likely a repeal of this price increase. Again, this is the third price increase totaling around 25% in the past 24 months.
My suspicion is that this is a tactic by GS to force perpetual license holders (their most loyal of customers) onto their subscription model.

It means that the price is fixed during the 3-year period. When the 3-year phase ends and you are willing to rent AC for another 3 years, you will have to pay the then 3-year price, which will be fixed over this period.

The best option is not mentioned by GS: just work with the last possible version, save the money and hope another software will jump in during the next three to five years.

Hungary's federal authoritarian policies end up corrupting everything. Graphisoft is just playing with fire. I don't know of any architectural company (the US & Australia) who uses Archicad who is happy with any of these new authoritarian licensing practices. Graphisoft instead of trying to force a square peg in a round hole how about you fix the door tool and allow multi-slide pocketing doors (up to six panels at least) for US subscribers. Do better!!!

Gotta love how they say you are "saving" money when paying for something you already paid for. In 3 years you will pay 1.5times for what you already own. Ahh, marketing.

Dear Archicad friends,
When I first opened Archicad a quarter of a century ago, I felt that a love for life was born here. Finally, a program that combined pleasant work in model space and drawing documentation. I felt an advantage over DWG.
I bought Archicad and to be "in", I paid for SSA every year. The advantage of the current version was relative. I regularly used every second or third version due to zero benefit and time spent converting projects to a new version.
Although I own version 28, I work in version 26. Why? Versions 27 and 28 have a bug in the section display and this bug is crucial for my work. The effect of the funds spent over the last two years is zero. Moreover, version 26 is starting to show instability after two years (it's definitely my fault, but ...?). Despite all this, I was a devoted user and fan of Archicad, I recommended Archicad to everyone.
Now Graphisoft wants 2.7x more money, but for what? How is it developing?
- Importing 3D objects - Many manufacturers offer 3D models of their products, but most cannot be imported into Archicad. After import, the objects are often so large that they cannot be used.
- Archicad's own libraries - unusable quality. Thank you for the possibility of GDL programming.
- Rendering - No, no, no. If I want to compete, I have to work with another program.
- Compatibility - in our area, people are still talking about BIM, about data sharing. But the main bridge is still using DWG. Paradoxically, data exchange between Archicad users is also frequent using DWG.
It seems to me that in an attempt to create a comprehensive program, Archicad has closed itself into a bubble and the competition is gaining a significant lead.
In recent years, with each new version, I have been trying to understand who Archicad is actually intended for. Further development, Graphisoft's approach and their pricing policy compared to the overall benefit force me to analyze. Archicad is not worth the price Graphisoft is asking me to pay. That's why I will use the latest version of the "permanent" license before Graphisoft blocks it! And I will choose new software.

I couldn't agree more on everything.
I'm staying on V. 27 as long as it works sufficiently and then I'll move on to other software. I'm already looking at alternatives so I don't get caught by surprise.
