Mine tries to update the license when I launch...says the update to 28 is available... and then reports "Protection Key update was unsuccessful" and asks me to launch Licnese Manager which does not even find the update, saying I am up to date at version 27.

Still no license update. This is beyond ridiculous. And Graphisoft has the nerve to try and push me into a subscription license model when they can’t even manage to update my existing license after 5 days? Don’t even get me started on their pathetic Codemeter online server—it’s practically guaranteed to fail right when you need it most, like when you're desperately trying to keep working on your laptop from home.
This company is spiraling into the ground like a WWII bomber in flames.

Rodger:
I completely agree - and I just scrimped and saved to buy a second key/perpetural license in March - and the next month they started rolling out the "sorry guess what we'll be moving to subscription now" announcement. I've been an ArchiCAD owner since 6.5, and have really loved the product all these years, but my frustration level is rising with problems like this "key update issue".
I thought the "Bimserver Basic" casting off ("Here's a PDF - good luck!") was bad, but obviously only the tip of the "Iceberg of Badness" that was yet to come.
Also, I will have to also note a certain frustration level with my re-seller making damn sure that I get my SSA money sent in, only to have them reply with "Sounds like a NA support issue" at every turn. It's really not fun making "here, let me video your screw-ups" videos and sending those to NA Support, but apparently that's the life I've chosen.

I finally got mine updated today. Had to suffer another Codemeter server malfunction prior to send my license to the server after working at home. 6 days after launch. I'll figure out how to delay 6 days my SSA payment.

I encountered the same problem. I called the reseller since GS Support was swamped with calls. It turned out our maintenance contract had been mistakenly deactivated even though it was paid up. Once GS reactivated our maintenance, ArchiCAD 28 was licensed.

Congrats! Wow, I can't wait for how excited I'll be when I finally receive that which I paid for - a mere 7 months ago 😅
