Please don't post multiple unrelated questions in the same thread. Start a new topic with a new subject line to keep the forums organized so people can find things. (I've moved your question into this new thread.)
Thanks,
Karl
PS To see an 'x' in a section, use a complex profiled beam. For the profile, take a rectangular fill of the desired size. Use the split command to break it diagonally into four triangular fills. Assign two of the opposing triangles a different fill. (If the fills are not different, they will be merged when you save the profile.) All beams drawn with the result will show the desired 'x'. I assume the student version can do complex profiles. (The Start edition cannot.)

Karl
