I am an Archicad user with a perpetual license and an SSA contract with a local vendor, and I have access to all updates. However, when I run AI Visualizer in Archicad 28 I get a message that I need a valid Archicad license to use it.
I tracked down the information that AI Visualizer is only for Collaborate and Edu license holders. So am I to understand that if I have a license that I previously believed provided me with full use of Archicad with all its features (and I consider the AI Visualizer, which is now part of its standard installation, to be such a feature), that I can now expect to be gradually cut back on various features, only to be forced to switch to another licensing method?
Operating system used: Mac Apple Silicon

There is no problem with there being an 'incentive' to switch to subscription, but any promotional material, posts here and the error message generated should clearly state that collaboration subscription is required.

Especially when I start the program and I see the small splash window "What's new in ArchiCAD" - on one of its 10 screens, it implores me to try the AI visualiser. Well, I tried to try.

Exactly. There is no excuse for the program displaying that content for any license type other than the Collaborate subscription… it becomes merely deceptive and wasting time (when it doesn’t work). If the content said… “you can try this is you switch to collaborate”… it would be an annoying advertisement but at least honest. Similar to those car manufacturers who say that their cars come with Apple CarPlay,,, but then you find out you only get CarPlay by paying a monthly subscription.
Edit 12 Nov 2024: the error message is corrected in the first hotfix 28.0.1 build 3060 according to the release notes.

My perspective on this is to accept another subscription and move forward. Most of the programs I use, such as Photoshop, Office, and ESET, are already on a subscription basis. I checked the price difference compared to our current payment setup. Since I'm Swedish, the cost analysis is in Swedish kronor.
A three-year subscription will cost 48,750 SEK, including VAT. Dividing this amount into quarterly payments gives a subtotal of 4,062 SEK with VAT, compared to the current SSA fee of 3,937 SEK with VAT. The difference is minor.
I prefer to look at this positively, letting GS evolve and adapt like everything else. I’m opting for a three-year subscription, which will give me two licenses—one that will remain on version 28 and another that will receive updates over time. It does feel a bit like buying a new license, as I did 25 years ago. After all, 48,750 SEK isn’t a small amount.

If you pay for 3 years up front.
Otherwise I believe there will be a 10% surcharge if you pay annually.
I think you should also be able to extend for a further 3 years (6 in total) at a discount, but then the fee goes up to full subscription cost.
I can't see what that will be for you as the web site only shows me BIMcloud only subscription for Sweeden and not the full collaboration subscription.
Also after 3 - 6 years, if you stop the subscription, you will have your current perpetual license (28 or Graphisoft may allow 30?- this is unclear), but you will have no way to convert back unless you do so before you cancel your subscription.

Just updated today to AC 28 and saw the bad news..😡 here in studio we have a SSA/ FORWARD license, and like I read in this post, the AI visualizer does not work.. why ? it is absolutely unbelievable in my opinion.. we payed to have a full AC license, with all the features, and in my opinion, one of the most interesting new features, does not work. 😵 is that a joke ? we install the features and this don't work.. we have a new palette windows only for see ??
this is the link were we find the AI visualizer info and requirements.. there is not specified that it is required an AC collaborate or educational license.. it is specified that AI it's fully integrated in in archicad.. nothing else.

i'm really disappointed about that....

We have a subscription and I still get this error when trying to use the AI tool.

I think in order to use AI visualizer you need to pay for the collaborate version.

I figured it out. We have the solo version. I guess the 28 early preview was the full version I was playing with, so it was working and then wasn't when the preview expired.

so if I understand this correctly, SSA users are not allowed to use this feature? I've been using AC for nearly 20 years, I manage and support over 100 other Archicad users, and I have to say this is disheartening to see features falling back behind a paywall again. It really sucked when the MEP tools were an add-on, and I thought we were past this now... but I guess profit above all else? Sad, very sad
