Zone Fills

After placing down zones, I cannot seem to be able to get a fill shown. The zones were placed with a fill selected, I've checked both the view properties and fill settings as listed in the helps - but nothing seems to be happening. I've twiddled with fill patterns and colors, and tweaked the numbers in various zone options a few times, to no avail. If anyone has had this problem before, or seen it happen, I would appreciate any help on fixing it. Its not super crucial, but just annoying at the moment.
