3D & 2D Contour pen question

Why is it that when you change the 2D contour pen of an object it also changes the contour pen in 3D? Am I missing something? These should not be connected...

This depends on how the part is written. It will vary from one to the next. I'm not sure what the typical standard is.

That is standard for the ArchiCAD objects, I am not a fan of it.
