AC 16 Bug?? - Layer won't stay hidden

kevin b

We have one project (so far) that we have discovered that there is one layer that is showing up as visible (Show) when it should not be, based on the Layer Combination in the view set. (and this is the case regardless of the view set or layer combination) When an object on that layer is selected and the layer hidden using the Quick Layers toolbox, it hides but then reappears once you zoom or pan. Tried making a new layer combination with the layer hidden and it still reappears once you zoom/pan.

Anyone else running into this? Know the cause?

Will try to duplicate and/or see if it occurs in any other projects or any other layers.

Hi,
When I've had this problem it has been while using a multistory marquee, then using my keyboard shortcuts to "Sow Selection/Marquee in 3D". Then using shortcuts again to go back to the 2D window.

Again, this problem is intermittent so when I encounter it again I'll try to make note of the specific steps. Thanks for looking into it.

i'm also having this problem with AC 18 at the moment. i read through some of the previous post & i already updated my graphics card to the latest drivers, but still no joy.

although there is an interesting glitch that i noticed. i have made 4 screenshots but they were too big to be attached. i've had to use Photobucket to upload the pictures & link them here (apologies):

Screenshot 1:

All layers are shown. you'll notice that i've selected one of my Working Section Markers, which is part of the offending group of layers.

Screenshot 2:

I've used a keyboard shortcut to turn off ALL LAYERS. but you'll notice that some layers do not obey the command shortcut & thus are showing the elements associated with the layer.

Screenshot 3:

In this step, i opened up the layer settings & made sure to Select All Layers & clicked Hide All Layers. went back to the plan, & you'll notice on the top left, that the layer now is hidden, but the elements associated to it are still showing.

Screenshot 4:

Here's the kicker...i used my keyboard shortcut to SHOW ALL LAYERS, & it shows everything, except the offending layers still say that they are hidden. (refer to top left corner again).

I've already done the New & Reset All fix & restarted the computer. both yielded nothing. I hope this is just one of those overlooked settings that everyone misses, but when somebody accidentally presses or clicks something, this situation happens & the remedy is embarrassingly easy.

Any help would be appreciated.

I see this is happening in a Teamwork file.
Does this also happen when you save the file as a PLN and you do the same steps there? Cause if not then it may be a TW-specific thing.

i did a Save As from the Teamwork file into a Solo PLN file. but before i opened it, i did New/Reset All before i re-opened the converted Solo file.

(Refer to attachment) almost everything else happened exactly the same, except when in the layer itself is properly hidden in the Layer Settings & the elements are still showing, the Info Box is now empty. Whereas before, the Section settings would still show up in the Info Box & it would show that the layer is currently hidden. (refer Screenshot 3 & 4).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also realised a very serious glitch & i'm guessing it's related to these missing layer glitches. I wanted to put things into a specific layer but i can't even find it in the Info Box Settings, or even in it's elements settings:

Screenshot 1:

you can see that the label is currently associated to the layer that i want it to be in.

Screenshot 2:

but as soon as i click the layer setting in the Info Box, it comes up as MISSING. It's all well & good with this label because it's in the correct layer, but when i want to put other things into that, i can't find it in the Info Box or element settings.

the kicker is, is that i can see the layer in the Layer Settings.

Please report this to your local reseller, along with files so they can forward it to GS for investigation.
There is not much else I can recommend.
