AC10 "Open Detail..." palette

I'm slowing getting into AC10 and I'm trying to setup a few bells and whistles that I had in AC 9.

What is frustrating me at the moment is that a command that was available to add to a palette in AC 9 is now no longer available in AC10.

The command is "Open Detail..." it is listed in the "Application Comands and menus" column but you can't drag it into the "Build or edit toolbar column

Am I missing something or is this a retrograde step?

TIA

no problems here . . .

i used 'all commands in alphabetical order' ...

'list of details' and 'open detail window' are both available to add to toolbars and menus . . .

Thanks for trying but that isn't the same command as I am trying to get to work.

In AC 9 I had a buttong that gave me a list of the currently open Detail Windows, which I found was very handy but in AC 10 it lists the same command but for some reason I can't drag and drop into the palette I have made.

I think you've missed a step mate.

What you have in ArchiCAD 9 is a toolbar of a menu. So in 10 you need to do the same thing. Trouble is that menu doesn't exist so you will have to create it first, containing the same two commands, Open Detail Drawing... and List of opened Detail Drawings. Then you need to make a toolbar that contains that menu.

You don't need to keep the menu on the menubar either, you can remove it and still have the toolbar work.

Cheers,

I think what has changed is the behaviour of the command. In AC9 I got a pop up menu, click and drag to select the Detail I wanted to open.

In AC10 clicking on the button opens a dialogue box from which you can double click a Detail or select a Detail and then click open (and if you prefer toggle the button to open the Detail in a new window).

I preferred the AC 9 way but then I'm an old fart

Not here. AFAICS I can still get the same menu as in AC9, as per the previous instructions...

Cheers,
