Display Order of "Text 3D 25" Object

We have some 3D text modeled with the "Text 3D 25" object. In an elevation view, we need this text to be at the highest display level, since it sits out from the building. We have some fills behind the text to represent some atypical materials.

In the Element Information palette, it says the level is "8" for all of this 3D text. When we move it forward or backward, visually it moves forward or back (on top of or behind other elements), however the level is still stated as "8". When we get it looking how we want, we go to the layout where the view is placed, and it's as if the level never changed (i.e. it's still on 8, both visually and literally, so it isn't showing how we want).

Is there something we're missing?

I replicated your situation and I am facing the same issue. The fill element changes its display order level value, but the 3D object doesn't.
here I have a fill on display order 9 and the text on 3 but the text has been brought to front (so it shows in front).

Also when I bring the text forward, the display order value does not change. It only does so in plan view, not in elevation.

Regarding the view placed on a layout though, it updates correctly automatically in my case.

Thanks for looking into it. Our view placed on the layout looks correct after fixing it, but I'm not sure how long it will stay that way. I have to imagine that our drawing looked correct at one point, then sometime over the past few weeks it bugged out again. That's our issue... things go wonky without us knowing, then it comes time to publisher and we notice a bunch of issues.

I almost posted another question to the forum, but I think it's related to the original problem of this post. We are having similar issues in a different teamwork file, with different users. Identical condition: Between different users in the same teamwork file, 2D elements do not have a consistent appearance (behind or in front of 3D elements), even though all elements are identified for each user as being on the same display level in the Element Information panel.

I found another post that had the same problem: Display order 2D and 3D elements not consistent between different teamwork clients.

Has this not been addressed by Graphisoft over the past 6 1/2 years? This is significantly affecting our deliverables and deadlines.
