If there were anything better than Archicad, we would be all over it.
mate, you just suffer from the posttraumatic stress disorder after too much fiddling with AC...Remember the last step of The 12-Step Program For ArchiCAD Problem-Solving (a link attached)

I wish I can read Finnish - http://www.mad.fi/mad/tiedostot/esitteet/ArchiCAD11.pdf

These two links are from a google search for 'Archicad 11'. No information at all in english though..

Reading between the lines, from what I can deduce from the images in those links, I can only surmise or speculate that ArchiCAD 11 will primarily be a 'perfomance' upgrade with minor additions to the features list - specifically concerned with 2D drafting and design ("Virtual Trace" and whatnot). I see nothing in that toolbar (they've separated the Section, Elevation and Interior Elevation into 3 seperate tools:- whoop-de-do,....I mean...er......Yay )to lead me to believe that there are any much needed improvements to the 3D modelling toolset. Unless of course, said tools are hidden in the menu structure as opposed to the toolbars and palettes; but I highly doubt that.

In fact at this point I would even be willing to bet that certain tools, **cough*cough*ProfileManager*cough*cough** will still be incomplete and half-finished in ArchiCAD 11. Colour me unoptimistic, butI always knew this change of upgrade cycle from 18 months to yearly upgrades was a bad baaaad idea. Bad habits picked up from Autotable.

Much as I look forward to trying out this Virtual trace tool, I can't help but think that it will be one of those unnecessary new tools that duplicate already existing functions; or worse yet, one that should have already existed from long before. I hope they at least cleaned out most of the bugs.

Oh well, counting down the months till the inevitable ArchiCAD 12 screenshots leak out to the web again.........

Bricklyne, apparently you know AC and GS well enough, that's all I can say...

....like I said Rob, "reading between the lines and deducing from the images". Obviously you know more, so I'll reserve the right to change my mind if I'm wrong when AC11 comes out and if it blows me away.

But like you said, I do know AC and GS from versions 4.5 - v10 and that history alone suggests that that's highly unlikely.

But we'll all know for sure, in a couple of weeks, wouldn't we?

I just came from a GS User's Group Meeting in San Antonio, TX, where Dominic Gallello himself was present for the "official" release of AC11, and I can tell you that although it is not a "significant" upgrade, it is definitely worthwhile and the improvements to AC will pay for the upgrade with the time savings alone. Two major work-arounds have been addressed: A working Interior Elevation Tool and the ability to link sections from sections and details from details. More later, gotta run to the airport...

Laura, what's the difference for you between int and ext elevations and why is the new tool so much better? In Revit, you can have two different graphical appearances for elevations, but there's no difference otherwise between int and ext elevations.

And what's the linking sections and details about?

I've gotta get a refresher course on AC -- I don't remember anything anymore
