AC20 - Detail/worksheet markers and callouts

I'm still new to Archicad so sorry if this is a silly question but am I correct in thinking that detail/worksheet markers make a copy?

Is there an option within archicad that means any changes to 3D elements within a callout relate back to the main model i.e. changes are global?

Details and worksheets are basically a 2D view of what you are detailing - all 3D elements will be converted to lines and fills.
Any changes you make to these are not reflected in your model.

Likewise any changes you make to your model are not reflected in the detail/worksheet either unless you manually tell them to update.

The linked 'model' lines and fills will all update to match the model when you update but any extra annotation you add will not be affected.

If you want a 'Live' detail you can place a section in the plan and limit its extents horizontally (section length) and vertically (options in section settings).

Thanks Barry.

So you can update the detail/worksheet if there are any amendments?

Thanks for the Section option as an alternative

Yes, when you open the detail you can right mouse click and choose "Rebuild from source view"
Or you can right click on the detail in the Navigator.

Just remember if you adjust any of the 'linked' lines and fills in your detail or you adjust your model then they will all 'linked' lines will adjust to match the model when you rebuild from source view.

I usually take a copy of the generated detail and move it to the side - so effectively there are 2 details in the view.
One is live and the copy is not.
I annotate that copy so that it never updates on rebuild but I can see the changes on the original detail and can copy to the duplicate again if need be.

Thanks once again Barry, I appreciate you letting me know your workflow, sounds like this best option.

When you 'rebuild from source view' will that also copy any 2D elements that have been added to the source view or does it just relate to 3D elements?

I don't do it often but I believe what you see in the detail area when you place it is what you will get in the detail view - including all annotation.
