AC9 - Can't drag a copy of a library part in section window

Very odd. I haven't been working in 9 long enough to test for patterns of this behaviour, but I'm working in unlinked section windows (drawings) and am finding when I have a library part selected, "Drag A Copy" menu item is disabled. Key shortcut doesn't work either. Multiple copy works...

As I weaned mself off the Drag a copy and prefer the ALT and CTRL (OPTION and ALT for you) method as I can switch between the modes, I don't find this behavior is a problem.
I started using the option and Alt but this morning I went to rotate a copy of a library part and this was not available. This makes it a two step operation; first copy the part and then rotate. This cannot be what Graphisoft had in mind.

It works quite nicely over here:

- select a thingy and choose Rotate (context menu)
- click on the rotation center point
- ALT CTRL OPTION whatever ... the pluses come and go as needed

Maybe a Mac problem?

Nope, just an ignorant operator!

I experienced the same "drag & copy" an object and wrote to Jeff @ graphisoft. I was using the Ctl+Shift+D sequence and the "drag+copy" was grayed out.
This is what Jeff wrote"

<<"3. I cannot "drag and copy" an object. I am able to "drag & copy" a
line but not an object. What I need to do is to initiate the pet palette
begin to drag and depress the Option key in order to drag & copy. "

Are you aware that Cmd+Opt+D is related to the Docking Bar
in Mac OS?

In Mac OS 10.3 the default for "auto hide and show the dock" is also
cmd+opt+d, and this will disable drag a copy. Go to System
Preferences/Keyboard & Mouse/Menu shortcuts to disable this system
shortcut, or assign a different shortcut for ArchiCAD/PlotMaker.

I've already assigned Command D to drag a copy. This always seemed more mac like as Command D was always duplicate for a mac. This doesn't change the fact that you cannot drag a copy of an object in a section window; but as Djordje says you can use the alt/option key to drag a copy. I believe this is Graphisoft's way to force us to use the new method.

Same here. I've already assigned another shortcut for drag-a-copy. The telltale of the bug is that lines and other primitive elements can be duplicated in this way, but library objects cannot.

Maybe we old dogs should try to learn the pluses trick?

That works always, and you don't need to assign shortcuts, and on top of all that, you have an option od drag/drag a copy/drag a multiple copy as you wish.

Much better, IMHO. Just new and different.

I like the fifth gear in my current car, although my 1966 Beetle does not have one.

Oh-- I've been enjoying the pluses trick since you first wrote about it. It's a substantial improvement - thanks for brining it to my attention.

So why did we keep talking about this?!?
