Adding the roads to a terrain done with MESH

I have done the topography of a large peace of land and I would like to implement the roads, is there a easy way to extrude the roads directly on the mesh?
Because I've been trying to create a mesh for the roads only but some how when I add the elevation lines the mesh gets corrupted and stops appearing in 3D (This is already the 3rd time I try & have the same problem)

Other things to think about include:
1) The mesh to roof tool. You can then get sloping roads.

2) Recently we have been using the profile tool to create an accurate profile through the road, including the kerbs, road markings and road finishes. We then trace the road using beams or wall profiles.

Hello! I don't understand how you transform the slab to get the road inclination. The slab is a leveled platform and the terrain is irregular...

Check this method out, works great (scroll down to the bottom of the link).
