License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks Clarence!

No problem.

Graphisoft always have a knack for picking the coolest looking projects and buildings for their box covers and the program splash screens going all the way back to the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Massaro House in ArchiCAD11 (you can never go wrong with a Frank Lloyd Wright project) - and essentially built projects that do a great job of selling the key feature of the respective new releases.

I guess that is probably because not only almost everyone at Product Design but also almost everyone at Marketing in Graphisoft has an architectural degree.

Wait.....so you mean they're not just mostly marketing and business management degree majors with a couple of programmers thrown in, like at another firm we know of?

..could it really be that ArchiCAD is made for architects........by architects?

This should be in the "Ads" section.

OK now, back on topic....

When are the NDA expiring so all you beta testers can tell us about the small improvements/changes that don't make is onto the brochures? Or can you not say because of the NDA's?

Just a quick question though to everyone. Is it worth it to upgrade to a 64bit Windows to utilize AC16's capabilities properly? Or is my current machine capable enough?

It's worth upgrading to utilize AC14's capabilities so yes the same applies for 15 and 16. I've no experience with the i5 processors. I assume they are 64bit. The biggest difference is memory capacity and management. If you are using 4GB or less then AFAIK 64bit won't make that much difference so upgrading your RAM at the same time may be a good idea.

Sooner or later 32bit will go the way of 16bit and 8bit before that. So it's not a question of whether to upgrade but when. Whether AC16 adds to the urgency depends on how close your projects are to pushing the limits of your system and how much the new features will add to the load. It's also worth noting that AC16 is the last version that will support 32bit (and XP).

i had an email yesterday verifying my shipping address, guess this means v 16 is shipping soon!? anyone received it yet? really looking forward to the additional energy modeling tools. being able to assign u values to composite and complex profile elements should be a great tool for those of us working on high performance structures.
any comments from beta testers regarding the enhanced ecodesigner?

I would guess that they are being prepared to be able to ship immediately upon release by checking addresses / account status now.

I don't know, but I'm also guessing from the countdown timer on the BIMComponents page here:
http://bimcomponents.com/

that 16 may not be shipping until mid-June...?

Cheers,

To build on Matthew's post, using a 32bit system with ArchiCAD beyond 14 is pure torture. The last that worked properly in a 32bit PC environment (XP) is 13, the 14+ versions are so much faster on 64bit that it absolutely makes no sense not to change.

There are of course pieces of software that we all use that will not work on a 64bit system, but that's the price of progress, regretfully.
