"Since this add-on does not come from the Apple App store this is Apple's way of protecting users from installing something potentially unsafe. The easiest way around this is, rather than double-clicking on the PPG or DMG file, is to right-click on the file and click "Open". Then this will offer the same message, but with an option to Open anyway. It is a kind of adminstrative override. See the section titled "Install an app from an unidentified developer" from the following article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491

Right-click didn't work for me..., but per that Apple support link,
Control-Click did the trick.

First of all tighter cooperation with McNeil and Epic (especially looking forward to being able to open the scene in UE) is very good news.

Beam and Colum redesigned is truly impressive since we will get the ability to complex profile element along its length. Ability to change parameters of complex profile in GH is also great. Also, the opening tool is a nice improvement since we had to mix GDL and empty openings in our workflow. Bimx with model streaming... finally

I am glad that you like it.
I think it is advisable for everyone to watch the whole 80 minute video about the new version so they can really appreciate all the new features it will offer.

Is announced to coincide with the release. IFC4 is now first-class citizen, meaning: also the internal mapping can be fully applied, not only the part that IFC4 shared with IFC2x3. You can now map to e.g. IfcChimney (which did not exist in IFC2x3 and use IFC4 enumerations and property sets.

Looking at the reactions, there is much complaining. To me, the most important things are the column & beam updates, the opening tool and IFC4. And the rest are all very nice additions. But I'm not running an architectural practice.

Did you have the chance to test it maybe in the beta Version?

Yeap, the opening tool is a big thing. Currently we are investing a lot of time manually generating openings.
So, fingers crossed it will work properly

As far as we know at this stage Archicad 23 will be launched some time in September 2019.
Usually the main language versions first (INT, USA, GER and a few others).
Then others will be released a little later.

IFC4 certification for ARCHICAD is official, at least according to this press release. But you have to read the text carefully, as the title does not even indicate the software name. If these press-releases are correct, ARCHICAD is second, after Vectorworks, for IFC4 Reference View 1.2 Export Certification (Architectural Reference Exchange) .

I have been using the beta several times, with specific focus on IFC and the support for IFC4 is thorough. In the current releases, the internal IFC-structure was Ifc2x3, meaning you could only select classes and predefined types if they were available in Ifc2x3. Now you can choose the main scheme (IFC2x3 or IFC4) and base your mapping on that. You can even organise multiple mappings from the same model. Pretty clever (but also a bit complex if you want to fully configure this).

At the same time, I have been playing with Vectorworks 2019 specifically to test IFC support and they also have a good implementation, with both Ifc2x3 and IFC4 supported properly.

All in all, both provide mature implementations. To do some of the same things in Revit requires editing specific mapping files in text-format and using countless Shared Parameters with specific meanings, such as NameOverride or IfcExportAs. You get there most of the times, though, so for OpenBIM this is a good thing.
