Does anyone know if this update overwrites personal preferences, etc.

I remember when updating before I had to reset all the parameters and preferences again.

Thanks,

Grant

After Installing the Patch, AC does not start anymore.

Any hints?

AC9v2 (of course), MacOS X 10.3.7, G4, Ram-Mhz-HD enough.

You could try rebuilding permissions or deleting prefs but you probably have done that already.

This was the hint of the german support. This has no success.

But this works:

The patch program does not check, if the files, which have to be fixed essentially , are available in the expected folder. We have renamed the original file names "ArchiCAD" to "ArchiCAD9", "Plotmaker" to "Plotmaker9" and have moved the library out of the program folder. While the other files have been patched the executables kept in Version v1. This caused the error.

I would recommend GS, that patching programs should test the existence of the necessary files before changing the complete installation.

Now it works fine - I hope.

Just a word, why we rename the program files: If you switch between Tasks by Command-Tab or in the dock just the plain file-name is displayed. If I have opened more than 1 AC I have to guess or to try which Task is the ArchiCAD to which I want to change.

Hi,
Is this update of 44 Meg just an update to the existing AC9 or I can delete the entire Graphisoft folder and install this patch only?
I also have multiple renamed AC9 on my computer.
Thanks,
Joseph

The installer works as simple as this: it checks what files you have, and replaces them with new ones.

Therefore if you have no files, nothing will be installed. If you don't have ArchiCAD.exe, no ArchiCAD.exe will be installed. If you don't have PlotMaker, no PlotMaker will be installed, etc.

If you have multiplied the ArchiCAD executable file only, then you have to make new copies. If you have multiplied the whole ArchiCAD folder, then you can patch them one by one pointing installer to the respective folder.

I have multiplied the whole ArchiCAD folder, and changed the name of Archicad executable to Archicad2, then what happens? Is it going to update Archicad2 executable when I point the finder to Graphisoft2/ArchiCAD 9/ folders.
Thanks,
Joseph

no. it looks only for an app called "ArchiCAD". you should know that you no longer need to duplicate the entire archiCAD folder in order to run several sessions of archiCAD - just the application file itself.

so - what you can do is delete the entire second folder and then make copies of your updated "ArchiCAD" file in the original folder . . . make sense?
