ArchiCAD takes long time to open some files

I work with point cloud files in ArchiCAD to produce as-built BIM Models.
When opening the pln it might take up to 15 minutes to load. I tried to remove the lcfs of the point cloud and it solved the problem, which means it's the reason.

Do you know what this might be?

It is probably the sheer size of the Point Cloud data.
I don't know the limits but I guess Point Clouds with hundreds of thousands or millions of points can take quite some time to process.
In such a case I would try to obtain less dense Point Cloud files with fewer number of points.
