ArchiCad and Oracle

On the Architosh website there was an article about AC and Oracle. Just glanced at it, but does anyone know what it means?

It means that ArchiCAD will predict the future. You will be able to ask it questions that no one can answer, like:

"ArchiCAD Oracle, when will version 10 be out?"
and
"ArchiCAD Oracle, when will LightWorks get radiosity in ArchiCAD?"
"ArchiCAD Oracle, when will they figure out how to eliminate that stupid wall/slab joining line?"

Stuff like that.

Oracle is a big corporate database vendor. Archicad is essentially built around a database (with building components etc).

This might mean that Archicad's database will get better in the future, built around Oracle's solutions. And it might also mean that it will be possible for external applications to read, and perhaps write into, the same database.

Imagine designing your project in Excel, just saving as "Export to Archicad"!

I was going to mention a collection of apes, a great big slab and their wondering what it was that landed in their midst - but I think that was a monolith. No predictive power, just a lot of..., trouble.

I'm sure Karl is as excited as can be, but I imagine it will be a while before most of us get any real benefit (or even notice any difference) from this, even the more hard-core IT guys like me.

Isn't this more targeted at connecting ArchiCAD to Oracle databases, for larger construction companies?
