Is not AC's fault, F1 is the default shortcut for accessing "Help" for all applications within Windows.

In AC10, that wasn't possible anymore; but I've discovered that if I deleted the "Help" directory in Archicad's installation folder, I could redefine CTRL+F1 shortcut (the F1 shortcut couldn't be redefined, after all). Still, that worked pretty good for me. But recently I've installed the addon I was talking about and all the things went back to original state. Uninstalling the addon didn't work. Hitting CTRL+F1 brings up help menu.
In reflection what he needs to do is get used to not using the Esc key. I'm guessing(from experience) that this is someone coming from autocad. Just remember that if you have something highlighted in AC just click in an empty space and it deselects all objects.
