Let me give an example to explain better

In my drawing there is a line with many points. I'd like to reduce them.
In this case, how the magic wand tool works?

If I click on the magic wand, nothing happens

I tried to change options in magic wand settings but this attempt was in vain

should have read your original entry more closely...

the magic wand (spacebar) only comes into play if you wish to 'trace' a closed area.

for your purpose simply do the following:

1. select the polyline;
2. right click and click on 'select & activate tool';
3. click on a node point you wish to remove and drag it over another node point to remove;

The magic wand will also trace an open contour if you click the edge.
