Bug or changed feature?

In AC7 when using shift key cursor constaints you could change it on the fly with opt-A to a locked angle constraint. Not any more in 8.1. It was very quick and useful feature and I miss it all the time.
I don’t know if it was chanced alreydy in 8, because I skipped 8 totally. Is there some replacing method for e.g when starting to drag with custom angle constraint and you want to to give numerical entry for the movement?

When I first starting using 8.1 it was doing the same thing to me as well. There seem to be a bug in the program, because it works now. What I did was hold down the shift, ctrl, alt and x or y depending on what constraint I wanted. I did that and now if I wish to constrain a coordinate I am able to hit alt x,y,a depending on what I want. Hope this helps.
