Can't get rid of hotspots in elevations

I did a SEO to get a wall reveal as you can see in the image. It looks great in 3d, but in the elevations, I see hundreds and thousands of hotspots (big dark X's) where the SEO took place.

I read somewhere here that it could be due to unlinking or something like that, but my elevations are auto-rebuild. Sometimes I can select some of them by Ctrl-A and delte, but it comes back in a somewhat random fashion, and usually only some of them are "editable" meaning I can delte them, but some of them (as you can see where my mouse is) are not.

They won't print, but is there any way to get rid of these? When I am working on the elevations, it's very distracting.

Dennis,
Looking at your .jpg it appears to me that those black Xs are not
hotspots but look like origin markers.
Have you tried unlinking a section window containing some library parts
that you know have 3D hotspots to compare their appearance to
these other black hotspots ?

Thanks Peter, but yes, they are hotspots. I figured out somehow that when I try to delete them right after opening the file, I can select and delte them.

I deleted them from 2 elevations, and when I tried to delte them from 3rd elevation, they got locked again. So I saved, closed, and opened the file again, and continued to delete the hotspots from the 3rd and 4th elevations. When I got to building sections, they got locked again, so I repeated the above step and deleted all of them.

They are not coming back yet, so I guess that's that.
