Can't rotate a vertical duct in plan view

Robert Nichols
Advocate

I'm new to the MEP modeler (using v27), so might be missing something obvious. I've modeled a single-segment rectangular duct, that has a 10' foot run along the z-axis. No x or y - it's straight up or down.

I can only draw it square to the project origin, but I need it to be rotated about 22 degrees in plan, because that's what the building does!!!

Not only can I not draw it in my preferred orientation, I can't seem to edit it either. The pet-pallet rotate tool is able to rotate the object, in plan, about some point that is NOT the duct's center, but doesn't rotate the duct itself about its own center.

I have the same problem, so far i found no way to solve it

Hello @Robert Nichols and @Lucairaghi ,

At this time, it’s not possible to rotate rectangular vertical ducts in plan view unless they are connected to horizontal segments. This limitation is related to how the system automatically generates route segments.

Current workaround:

  • Add a horizontal section to your duct route.

  • Rotate the entire assembly, including the horizontal part OR move the endpoint of the horizontal route and the vertical part will follow suit.

We understand this can be restrictive, and our team is actively investigating a solution. We plan to address this limitation in the future and will share news once a fix becomes available.

I've found a "solution":
Place the vertical segment and add one horizontal segment to the route. Before confirming the horizontal segment, set the distance to 0.00001 m.

With this, you shouldn't see the horizontal segment, and it will let you rotate the vertical duct.

This shouldn't be like this, but it's better than nothing!
