Can't see wall openings in walls below ground level

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this forum and also very new to Archicad, so sorry if the answer to this question seems really obvious. I'm creating a house with a lower ground floor and I've figured out how to create that story in the Navigator and how to make the walls visible on plan. But when I try to put doors or windows into those walls, I can see them in the Generic Perspective but not on the plan view. So I can't accurately manipulate them, and also the floor plan for that story will look incomplete if printed. All other floors above ground work normally.

Would appreciate any help / advice, many thanks!

Amy - if you could post an image or two it might help determine the problem, also which version of AC are you working on? check the floor plane cut settings - in your navigator, select the problem floor, right click and go to View Settings, press the floor plan cut plane button and check the height of that - default is 1100 - this is the level at which the horizontal section that forms the floor plan is cut from, if this doesn't intersect with your doors.windows they won't show. you could also check the model view options associated with that saved view in your navigator (again, right click on the problem floor in the navigator,go to settings, check which model view option is selected) then check that the model view (Document>Model view options) being used shows the doors/windows in plan. Check under the help menu for the Reference Guide - this may help you more than my ramblings have...

Mark,

Thank you so much for your help. As you rightly assumed, there seemed to be a problem in the View Settings box. Your instructions were very clear and much appreciated as a newbie still learning the basics.

Thanks again!
