Cannot delete a library part placed in plan

I have some cabinets placed on a story and they are greyed out so I cannot edit or delete if need be...? What setting do I need to change or where do I look to locate them so they are editable?

Using ArchiCAD v.12

I believe we have observed the same behavior in V16 for one of our projects, both in teamwork and solo modes. We have had some cabinet objects (converted from v15 cabinet objects) that even though they are on a unlocked layer, are not editable. When we selected the objects to try to unlock them from the edit menu, the "lock" option was greyed out and the "unlock" option was available, but when selected it had no effect. Also, when using the find command to find all objects, these unlockable objects would not be included in the selection set. After we closed the project and reopened it, we were able to successfully unlock the objects from the edit menu option. We never locked the objects in the first place, and have assumed it was a bug in Archicad. We have not had this issue occur since. You say you are using v12 though, so I don't know if these issues are the same.

Something to take into consideration.

If someone that has the AC with the MEP module opens and saves a regular AC file all the objects that contain parameters that MEP can read will become locked if the file is later opened in a regular AC version without MEP.

They will remain locked even if they are in an unlocked Layer.

The only way to unlock them is to chose Unlock from the Edit->Locking Menu.

(Edited for clarity. Thinking in Spanish and writing in English sometimes is not a good combination. Hope it is clear now.)

Yes, we use the MEP Modeler plug-in and it may have been responsible for some of the behavior we have seen in that project with the cabinet objects/equipments . We have not been able to reproduce the condition and all is well now.

The locking to objects with MEP connections occurs when the file is opened in an ArchiCAD instance that does not have the MEP Modeler installed.

Thanks for the tip. We have one station that has the MEP license. All the bathroom library parts were locked on the rest of the work stations.
Did not realise that the edit-unlock would solved the problem.
Would be great if GS could include the lock/unlock function in the pet palette that comes up when one right-clicks

Thanks

This is the strangest occurance ever. Unlocking from the edit- Locking menu worked. but right click and unlock did not.

thank you so much its been racking my brain for hours now!

There is no right click and unlock command that I know of.

This is only to lock / unlock a layer.

If you lock an element, you can not unlock it using the lock / unlock layer command.

Locking an element and locking a layer are two different things.
