Column Spanning Multiple Stories - Home Story

I am new to Archicad so this question is likely easy for someone to answer.
I want a column to extend from the top of footing to a tie beam.

If I place the column with the Home Story on the top of slab and an offset of -3', it appears properly.

However, I am unable to place the column with the Home Story on the top of footing.
- The column in both cases is the same.
- All Relevant Stories is selected with Projected with Overhead
- The priority of the building material is higher than anything else
- I have experimented with the View Settings Cut Plane limits and
Show Projection options without success
- In all case the column appears properly in 3D

I will need to change the depth of the footing later, so my preference is to set the column to the footing and not the slab.

I'm not sure but it looks like you're placing the column inside a wall. Walls and columns interact. You may have to adjust the layer priority number to stop that.
