Complex profile wall / door plan

Bruce
Advisor
I have a door inserted into a complex profile wall, and for whatever reason, the plan is not displaying correctly.

I have tried all the different permutations of projected / symbolic for both door and wall. I have played around with the opening reference line - but I just can't get it to display right.

- With wall on Projected, and door on Symbolic: door symbol is correct, but in the wrong place, and wall isn't properly cut
- With wall on Projected, and door on Projected: door symbol shows as closed, with no swing line, but is shown in correct place, and wall is correctly cut

Is this a bug?

Complex profile, with opening reference lines highlighted (although changing, and even deleting these, has no discernible effect)

Yes. I have the same problem. When using complex profile wall, the door display in plan is not the same in 3d view. And in the plan view, there is the wrong line cross the door area.

There was a post somewhere around here from Barry that went through this. No real solution by the looks of it... Can you model your skirting with the wall accessory instead?

2 things I would check.

The opening reference line position in the complex profile - this will affect where the frame position is measured from.

And is the door anchored by the head or sill, this will affect the part of the wall the thickness is measured at.

Hi Barry, I don't quite understand your 2 things. When the door plan view is "symbol", the skirting line ( ① in my snapshot pic) of the complex profile wall  is visible. When the door plan view is  "projection", then the line is invisible, but the door plan view is real cut . But is not so good for plan view paper.

The opening reference line I mean this in the complex profile settings...

I would assume you would ignore your timber skirting so the opening reference line would be straight (not staggered like in my example), and on the face of the wall.

The anchor position affects at what point the reveal depth is measured from the opening reference line.

oooh,  Thank you for your reply! I tried. But still can't get rid of the line of skirting wall part of the complex wall in the door open area. Maybe I shall use the wall accessory instead.😂

I am not sure why that line is carrying through (so long as is from the wall and not the edge of a slab).

Maybe have a play with the projection range.
