Convert fill pattern into lines?

Anonymous

Is there a way to convert existing fill pattern into lines and more specifically splines so I can extrude in 3D? I would like to skip the redrawing task.

If it is a symbolic fill then you can open the 'fill types' settings dialogue and copy the fill pattern then paste into plan.
This will at least give you the repeating pattern.

If it is not a symbolic fill then you can't do this.

But maybe if you save your plan (with the fill in it) as a PDF and the place the PDF back in the plan with the drawing tool and then explode it.
I haven't tried this - just thinking out loud.
Maybe it will work - maybe it wont.

Just tried saving as a pdf and it did work.
Place a marquee around your fill and 'Save As' so that you don't get the whole plan (in the document options you can set it to print just the marquee area).
Then place the PDF with the drawing tool and explode it.

Oddly symbolic fill will remain as fills so copy and paste as before.
But all other fills will explode into lines.
