License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. Cover Fill

Hi all, Under the "Floor Plan and Section" of a slab, ticking the "cover fill" option, where's the "show area text" hiding?

I think you'll find "show area text" is only part of the fill tool, not when a cover fill is used associated with a slab / roof etc. (unless it's been changed in AC11, haven't looked there yet)

I'm curious.... what's the situation where you're using this? To get an building area or something?

Yes,all sorts of uses, paving slab area's,driveways etc. Where ever you use the "show area text" of a fill. I would have thought being a fill it would have the "show area text" facility like all other fills. Saves time not having to draw fills for area.

I agree that it would be nice to show the areas. Yet while it takes some time, just using the Spacebar (Magic Wand) with the fill tool on the slab perimeter will create a "quick" matching Fill. It is not linked though, so modifications to the slab will also have to be performed on the fill for the area to stay correct.

As discussed recently on the forum, select the items you want the area of and go to the Element Information palette where you can get area, volume thick etc.

You might also make a schedule for such items. Useful if you need to check the areas, volumes etc., want to include the info in your drawings, of check against bid quantities...
