So, my goal is creating this two domes in AC16:
http://www.salentu.com/volta-a-spigolo.asp
http://www.salentu.com/volta-a-squadro.asp
I'm starting from the "volta a spigolo" since it looks like being the easiest to model but, hey... I'm not managing to create even this 😕
My main problem, I guess, is that I don't know how to create a complex ellipsoid using a mesh. I need it for the upper part of the dome and I'll also have to define its shape in plant. But I have a rectangle based dome, not a square, so it's not easy at all...
Do you have any idead on how would you model something like that in AC16?

I made a GDL for many normal used vaults. (Cross, Kloster, Domes ....)
When i have time i will insert star..
Try it and make replies!

also, when creating "spigolo" or "squadro" vaults (these are vaults that are typical of my region, Puglia, in south Italy), remember to let various materials be customizable because it's often important to use different textures for the various structural elements!

I made this by by morphing, converting it to a GDL and programmed it further - so it is very slow but functioning.
You can change colours, drag x and y for the opening measures, (z only in dialogbox), show it as shell or as cutted out of a full block
have fun with it!

Hmooslechner wrote:Thank you, downloaded and tried it! I've never seen such kind of star vault honestly... normally, the star is not 3D, with a thickness and it's not going out of the vault in the inside, it's normally inset.
Just to try for You

In the GDL You tried - it is possible to take any kind of 3D-Shape in 5x5m, safe as GDL - and put the created text with minor changes 3 times in my code in the place of the old code.
I have to make some simple changes in GDL to just make on single place anyone can place the to gets his vault. wait some short days..

This starvault is more typical for the kind of gothic buildings..

Whats not told in the Vid: It is always a good idea to keep copys of the construction-Lines and Parts to have the ability to alter parts and put it together new.
