Curve Roofs

Hi there,

I was just wondering if someone would be able to direct me to the right path.

I have a museum I'm designing and I would like the roofs not only to go from point a to point b with a gradual increase in their rise, but I would like to curve them with their sides.

I hope this attachment will help in knowing my issue more accurately.

Thanks for any help.

Hi again,

I've downloaded Objective, though it doesnt have those shapes inside it's library =S, all I'm trying to acheive is to make it look like, well basically like a scarf roof, how it's long and has random turns and elevations.

Take a look through OBJECTiVE's reference manual to see how you can deform objects to complex shapes by bending, offsetting, and twisting. Some illustrations are attached - do the following to replicate it:
  • 1) Open the OBJECTiVE tool and select the Regular Profile object. Set the cross-sectional size for the roof profile in the settings, select the method to place the profile by angle and length, and place a segment on the plan.
    2) Use OBJECTiVE's Bend tool to shape the object to a curve (the result is shown in 3D)
    3) View the object in elevation and use OBJECTiVE's Offset tool to lost one end.
    4) Also while in elevation, use the Bend tool again to deform it vertically.
    5) In the object's settings, set the twist angles to twist the object through and specified angle along its length
    6) You can also change the profile of the object - draw the required cross-section with a fill, and use OBJECTiVE's New Profile to create the object.
You can create some amazing shapes by combining these tools. You can also freely cut and rotate these shapes in 3D to create larger assemblies.

any help?
I'm glad to see an answer soon..

Solid Element Operation (SEO) should work with Objective objects but Trim to Roof command will not.

As Gerald says, Solid Element Operations are the way to go. They work fine with OBJECTiVE components. I used them for some of the example images in this thread (where the walls are truncated to the roof form).
