Curved Edge Parking Spots?

Anonymous

Has anyone attempted to modify the gdl script of the parking space object so that it can be modified to follow a curved edge?

I'm just learning how to modify gdl objects and I don't even really know where to start...my only idea would be to get the curve script from a line or slab, etc, and add it to the script for the parking spaces. However, I fear that it's not nearly that simple...anyone tried this or have any idea where I should start?

Thanks.

Nobody has any ideas?

As an alternative...how do you all deal with curved situations and parking lots? I've taken the painstaking route of using one spot at a time and rotating each line but that takes waaaaaaaay to long...do any of you have other little tricks you use to make parking spots on a curved edge?

Thanks.

Have you tried parking lot maker 3.0. from objects on line? I
t is not perfect, but it has taken care of most of my parking problems. Its 40 dollars but the time it has saved me has already payed itself. The only problem with this library part is that it doesnt make double lines between parking spaces. You may need to thicken these lines in blow ups or in large scale drawings.

If you figure out the geometry first (lines and arcs in some auxiliary geometry layer) and then multiply-rotate-spread/increment either walls for the paint stripes, or whole parking space objects, or whatever idea you come up with, it shouldn't be that time-consuming to do it once.

[That is the way I do it, using walls for the stripes.]

[And you need to redo the whole thing every time you tweak the layout, which is the part that an object could make prettier.]

Parking Lot Maker now does wide lines in straight, angled, or radial
