Dashed mesh cut line in section

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi!

I've created two meshes. One mesh that corresponds to the current terrain and one that illustrates the final terrain when the area is done.

15 houses and + their corresponding garages is placed over this area ( as hotlinked objects)

What I need to do is to make sections of every house. 4 sections for every single house, showing the facade and the two "ground lines" (these documents is needed to get permission to build)

The problem I have is to get the cut lines of the current terrain as dashed in the section views...

In the mesh settings there is no option for "cut lines" i can only change the "cut line pen".

I've tried to save the section as DWG an change the linetype in AutoCad. but Autocad does not recognize the cut line as a editable line.

Probably a very simple setting I've missed, everything else has worked perfectly.

OT:
I've falling in love with the magic wand, took me just 15 min to turn my dwg height-curves to a nice mesh.. Saving me tons of hard manual work hours to calculate the ground curves for every section by hand.

What I do for ground lines ( which I am not sure is the best way ) is to create a working section in Drawing mode and place it where you want the section view to show. If it is an Elevation view you place it along the outside face of the wall using the Segmented Section if required. Generate the section, select the grade line, copy to clipboard and then paste into the permanent section you are creating. You will have to change the line to dashed because as you noted you can't select line type for the cut line in a mesh. I would be happy to hear of a better method if there is one.

I usually keep a copy of the existing mesh in a temporary layer to revert to if required. I then create a copy that I use for visualisation and later CD.
If you create a slab or slope (or any other AC object for that matter) that represents the lowest point of your model in/on the site, and using SEO with "subtraction with upwards extrusion" operation to edit the mesh, this then provides the opportunity for fast editing and visualisation changes, provided you remember to edit this object as well Slabs and slopes work best for this exercise and when visualised correctly can also be used to communicate complex cut and fill operations.
Using the process described in the previous post you also have a 2d benchmark that you can lock to represent natural ground levels. If you have to change the location of your sectionline, you can easily recreate a new natural ground line from the unedited mesh.
