Certain element types such as Zones, Dimensions, Text, Label, etc., are set to be not displayed in the Reference by default.
You can go to the Trace & Reference Palette and you can set which element types are displayed, just check the checkbox for the Zone. It will display both the Zone fill and the Zone Stamp.
