Distance Guideline

Red

Is there a way for the "Distance Guidelines" to reference each side of the core? I thought it might be able to by turning off the wall finishes, but it still goes to the finish as if it was still turned on.

Thanks,

Not that I know of.

You are not the only one that has noticed this.

Hi, a simple work around for now is to allow the wall thickness with your room dimensions. 10mm wall linings add 20mm to your dimensions ie for 3600mm wide room add 20mm or a total width of 3620mm and so on. Till they add a setting for DG’s to measure to stud core edges.

or just learn to use the tracker which doesn't suffer from all the DG restrictions/failures.

Apple iMac Intel i9 / macOS Sonoma / AC27UKI (most recent builds.. if they work)

Yes true but why not have multiple trackers running simultaneously with DG’s ? That way we can use our tracker tricks with DG’s to give us a location, less clicks less time more productivity.

This video shows the use of the tab key in the DG display, it also works with other tracker inputs too.

Yes it definitely needs to be able to measure to the frame as well as to the outside of walls.

Any chance there is an orthogonal grid option and rotated grid option for distance guides.   I have a huge section of the model that is set to a rotated grid and the distance guides do not acknowledge those walls that align with the rotated grid.  It will pick up columns as a reference but they will only pick up the corner of the column.  Hope you have some insight.

Hi @DVH, I haven’t tested it in that way just yet. I know it is still being further developed for AC28. I would ask a GSC administrator for what it can do right now and we just have to wait till AC28 technology preview to see what it is capable of.

Distance guides do not work (at present at least) with angled walls.

Does it help if you rotate the screen so the rotated grid/walls now appears square?

That makes it much easier to work on that part of the plan anyway.

Then just toggle between screen rotation angles.
