Distribute Evenly vs Space Evenly

In the above scenario, you can see the before and after of elements being distributed evenly on a line. When they're distributed evenly, their center points are distributed evenly on the line.

In case i want to space these elements evenly on a line so that spacing between them is same. how to do that?

I don't know of a quick way to do this, but often wish there were one. I would suggest posting this as a wish to the wishlist.
