Editing Skylights

Anonymous
Not applicable
I have a project with skylights on sloped roofs - when they are inserted into the model, a large plane/slab comes attached to them which extends beyond the roof.

The skylights were created with the same slope as the roofs, so I don't think the angle is the problem. At first I thought it was because the skylight "was created outside of the roof" but when I fixed that issue, the slabs still appear.

Is there a way to get rid of these slabs or edit them?

Thanks so much!

The roof edges of the hole the skylight cut may not all be angled correctly. It sounds like one edge is a very low slope. With the roof tool active, select the side of the skylight hole and set angle to perpendicular (or angle of your choice) and apply to all the edges.

Place your cursor on the hole edge so the Mercedes cursor is showing. In the pet palette, the top right button is the edge condition one. The Apply on Selected Polygon will apply the edge slope condition to all the skylight hole edges, and no other roof edges.

Great thanks!

It turns out, like you said, I just had to open up the skylight editing window and adjust the "lining and edge types" - and change the lower and upper conditions to 90 degrees. All the diagrams right there for you... that's one of the awesome things about archicad.

thanks for your help
