Editing black texts in Layout Book

How do you guys edit black color texts in layouts?

I just can't see my texts when editing them because of the also AC black editing box... I can't find a way to change the black color of the box to white or something else.
Thanks,

That constant transition between white and black puts a lot of strain on your eyes, as they can't adjust fast enough. Ergonomically, a white (actually, off-white) background is indeed best.
Thank all gods ...

There are also lighting rules:

- no light straight into the monitor
- no fluorescent light
- no light pouring in behind the monitor (e.g. the back of the monitor is turned towards a window without any blinds)

General rule for the least eye strain: the brightness of the monitor and the immediate area around it should be the same

Ironically, these guidelines are contradictory to many of the new energy codes and LEED, which suggest using ALL fluorescent lights (until LED's get better), and widespread use of "daylight harvesting". I, personally, used to like the dark basement computer lab with incandescent can lights, but that's not cool anymore.

A Story: Our office has a receptionist/graphic designer up front, right next to the west-facing storefront windows. She complains about not being able to color-match anything with her (fairly expensive) monitor, no matter how much she calibrates it. Of course, the real problem is that her space goes through about five different color temperatures over the course of a day. It would be nice if monitors could continuously recalibrate themselves based on ambient conditions, but that's like waiting for flying cars!

Very interesting...

I have started my path of healing. I created a new "working" pen set with dark pens, and I've set my background to a light gray. All of my model views look great, but, and there's always a BUT... the layouts STILL have black boxes where text and symbols are opaque, and the text edit box is still black. Augh!

However, I don't think I was ever able to do THIS before... when in a layout view, I can now activate the Grids and Background dialog. Even though I've set the background to light gray in model view, it still shows as black in the layout. AND THE COLOR SELECTION BOX IS GREYED OUT. It only lets me change the grid line color - fine lot of good that does me! It's not fair!! I've really tried SO HARD! Is this going to be stuck that way forever, since the layouts were created when the background was black? Even new layout are stuck this way.

Well, at least it plots OK. Maybe someday, we'll have WYSIWYG again.

I too am switching to a light background, but have the exact same problem as you. Did you (or anyone else) ever find a fix?
