Maybe one window is facing out, the other facing in. Try fliping them.

have tried flipping them (they all face out) and setting them back from the edge all have brought varying results. Some fix the problem but the next time i view the elevation it is back to the old view of no heads.

I have found that if a header to a window is in exactly the same plane as the wall you get varying results as to whether you can see it. If you know anything about GBL you might be able to push the lintel/header out just a bit.
Cheers John

Thanks John, It seems if I set it out 1mm it will show up except that there are no lines seperating the head and wall fills. Not the desired result either since in section now the window sits out just that little bit
