FILL FOR CUT WALL

I never thought about this…how do I change the fill of the cut wall to say, hatch instead of the solid color in the foreground and background?

Assuming it is a composite wall then you need to edit the Building Material that is used in the composite.
Edit the BM to use a hatch fill rather than a solid (or empty) fill.
You can also set the default colours for the hatch lines and background there as well.
