Grayscale pictures in ArchiCAD

Hi,

I'm still working on old plans, and drawing new electrical installation over the paper plans. These A0 plans were scanned in B&W and we've been working on them in this format, placing the colors elements over the black and white plans. As we need to print the new plans in B&W, the color isn't helpful and plotted plans are near to unreadable.

We were suggested to use grayscale plan to get a lighter background. I transformed the image in a 256 grayscale image then adjusted the brightness of the image and reimported it in AC : the image isn't shown anymore. Am I missing a setting in AC or can't ArchiCAD display grayscale images ?

You might have converted the image to a format of a flavour that ArchiCAD does not like ... and there are such. AFAIR there is an article on this in ArchiGuide Tech Tips. Rats ... it is for 8 ...

Hi Djordje,

I tried what you suggested. In fact I made several tests, based on "interesting" file type, such as TIFF, PNG and Photoshop :
when using a 300 × 300 image grayscale image, there is absolutely no problem with each format (see the attached imaged)

You can even use directly photoshop file, including dynamic filters (instead of applying the level filter to the image, a filter layer is created leaving the original image unaltered) : this is the to go, but I can't get it work on a 25.000 × 12.000 pixels image.

Is this a known bug ?

Whoops ... nice size ...

Did you try to scale it down and resize in ArchiCAD? Maybe it is just too big?

Just a thought,
