Hot to make colums and beams look like Tree Trunks?

Not applicable
Hi,

In preparation for my next Uni Project I want to learn how I can make standard ArchiCAD component ( beams and columns) look tree-like, as my project is located in a woodland. The project is also about sustainability so using what's already on site it worthwhile.

Would a complex profile work properly? say if I drew it on plan, it would looks like a section through a tree trunk (circular with jagged edges) but would it work like that? I'm not experience with Complex Profile (though I know a little on how they work). Can I create a new profile that will work from a 'plan' or section of a tree trunk ?

The Plan would look something like this: http://www.inkart.com/images/lineart/tree_trunk_cross_section.gif

Thank You

You can rough up your beams and colums with seo then save as new object and apply a bark material.

Have you tried the Log Details tool in ArchiCAD ?
Also, you can download .3ds logs and tweak them in ArchiCAD.
There is a progam called ArchiLog that might be of interest to you also. ?

All points you mention certainly seem good ideas! Just one question the attached image, is that an ArchiCAD screenshot by any chance?

If so, it's something I can aspire to achieve.

Thank You .
