There is a huge difference between discussing "political issues" current events and opinions and the politics and socialization of architecture. While I agree that some heated debates could evolve from opening the forum to such issues, it could easily happen just as much if we decided to debate the social aspects of Daniel Libeskind designs in traditional neighbourhoods. Such a discussion could be called "politics".
We are creatures of the social world and architecture is as much as political subject as health care. We might need to step softly but we need to walk the path nonetheless. Having a discussion about the path might be very helpful.
