It is a little difficult to see in your image what it is that you want to accomplish for sure.
It seems that you have a wall running into your arched opening to the left of the stairs, and that you want a partial arch ending at the opening, rather than the full arch which is leaving the odd piece of wall?
The best method is to create a custom shape for your opening, as David suggested - deleting the arched opening that you placed in that wall. Create a section through your model to draw the desired shape. You can create a Morph with the new Morph Tool right in the section ... and then in 3D, drag the 2D Morph and extrude it to penetrate the wall... then do a Solid Element subtract.
Or, you can create the shape in the section to be used with a Complex Profile.
