How to view, edit length when grouped?

So when lines, shapes, walls etc are grouped or using fills you cannot click a length and view and editing the length, you need to ungroup if its a fills theres no way at all. is there a way to view and edit a length whilst it is still grouped?

You can suspend groups.
This way you preserve the group but still can edit elements.

You can use the Marquee Tool to make a selection around the elements while groups are suspended that you wish to stretch then use the move command (ctrl + d) to move all unlocked nodes within the selection area.
