Interface not working?

I have an educational version of Archicad 13. I'm trying to create an arced wall but it wont let me change the geometry method. It shows the create by radius icon with a small arrow, but when I click on it it won't allow me to change the method. Same for the single, chained, rectangle wall methods. what is wrong here?

If you have already created the wall you don't change the geometry method. Just select the wall, click and pause on an edge of the wall and a pet palette will pop up with the options for editing, including bending the wall into a curve.
