Not too popular, although all the universities have it and there is a hard core of companies using it. It is well known and people are aware of it. However, apart from a relatively short period of time, it was sold and marketed wrongly, with practically no support.
The obstacles? No support, price and workforce fluctuation.
The rule here is: price, quality, delivery. So the price is always the most important.
Nobody here wants to pay for an employee's training, as the employees are 100 percent expats, who are here today and gone tomorrow. The companies that do use ArchiCAD are mostly expat managed, with the core team that is on for years.
On top of that, the offering of AutoCAD "trained" workforce is seemingly inexhaustible, mostly of Asian origin, bagging on the average one third of a non Asian expat salary. Appetizing, huh?
